Just wanted to give you a little feedback on your HMT brake/running light for our Spyder RT. I ordered the light a couple months ago and when it came the original plan was to have the dealer install it for me. I am not a mechanic. But after reading the instructions a couple of times I decided to tear into it myself.

It was fairly easy and took about 1&1/2 hours all together. Your instructions are very good and the pics were a big help.

The light works great and really enhances the visibility of the rear end of the bike. The LEDs are brighter than I expected. This truly is something that should have been on the bike when we bought it.

During my time at the 2010 Sturgis Rally I was having the following ESI Cycle Products installed on my Spyder:
(1)Led Mud Flap Lights, (2) Billet Foot Pegs, and (3) the Front Fender TIPS Kit

On the morning of the installation Patty had seen a single Spyder Roadster in the parking lot. She knew that she had scheduled an 8:00 appointment with a Spyder Owner. She looked around the restaurant for a person riding solo and asked if I was the owner of the Spyder out there in the parking lot. I said yes and she invited me to join them during breakfast. I took great pleasure in knowing this was going to be a good day and the most dedicated and technically competent group of Spyder Lovers I had ever met.

If you’ve ever seen Patty and these guys work, you would be amazed. Even in the scorching 100 degree temperatures everyone exemplified the actions of a team that knew what they were doing while keeping their cool!

Here’s the part that is the testimonial that made me a believer in having the LED Mud Flaps Lights installed.

We were heading out of Sturgis on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Traffic was heavy lot of people on motorcycles and trucks hauling bikes were leaving Sturgis at the same time.

We needed to make 1,100 miles in two days to get home. The quickest way for us was to stick to the interstate. Unfortunately, one of the bikers in our group got some bad gas along the way, causing his bike to sputter, backfire and generally run no faster than 58 mph up hill and 67 mph downhill.

As I said earlier, traffic was very heavy traffic vehicles and bikes were passing our group of six at speeds exceeding 80 mph. I decided to place my bike in a staggered position behind the slow bike and tryout my new LED Mud Flaps Lights by turning the emergency flashers.

Wow what a difference in the way traffic responded to these lights. It became evident that traffic was no longer passing us at speeds exceeding 80 mph; instead traffic passing us had now slowed to a speed between 60-65 mph.

It was also obvious that traffic was actually slowing down well before they approached our group of six. I would say that traffic was slowing down a quarter mile or more before they passed us. And when they did they gave us a wide berth.

I believe that the installation of these LED lights made a noticeable difference in our visibility which led to the safe return of all in our group.

As an aside I really like the comfort the Billet Foot pegs provided on the ride home. They were spot on.

You did the right thing in step 6 when you said to check the turn signal wires for the hot wire. My right turn signal had the black wire hot and the left turn signal had the black wire as a ground.

Great instructions.
